SLU’s JR Development Program is designed to teach children the fundamentals of soccer, by developing individual ball skills in a safe, friendly environment using age appropriate activities. The program is the first step on a pathway leading to a life long enjoyment of the game, giving players the foundational skills in order to play at whatever level they wish.
SLU’s Junior Development Program is for players ages 6-12, with the emphasis on skills development rather than on games and scores. The format is one night of training and one night of small sided games.

The goal of this programs to challenge the players in games where they can best work on the skill base they have acquired through training. More advanced players are provided an opportunity to play against higher competition and those developing get to play with clubs of similar calibre. The focus is on “the right game for that player”. This year’s Select players participated in numerous exhibition games and multiple fun festivals and every player in the program had opportunities to test their skill and develop in game situations.
